I have been passionate about protecting the environment since I was a kid. But having two children of my own recently, witnessing all sorts of degradation to the planet , and wondering what condition the world will be in when they are parents has lent a whole new urgency to my desire that we get things right. I promote energy efficiency and renewable power in my job, and try to practice what I preach. My family has made gradual changes in our household and now have half the carbon footprint of a typical Sacramento family of four, use less than half the energy and water, and drive one third as many miles and in fuel efficient cars. Yet I still see so many opportunities to do more!

Spending time with my family, reading, designing things, good food, bicycling and all manner of natural-powered sports.
