I want to open a forum for discussion on the issue of termite control. As a green company owner in California, who exclusively uses green products to treat termites, I think people should know the truth about the impact of pesticides that are currently used by most pest control companies to control termites. They typically fumigate a building with a highly toxic and poisonous gas called Vikane. This stuff is lethal and there are several cases of people becoming seriously ill and even dying after exposure.
Unfortunately, not many people know that there is a much safer alternative, which is increasingly used by more progressive companies, such as ours.
We use a naturally-occuring orange oil (d-limonene), which is created when you extract the oil from an orange peel. This oil is lethal to termites, but completely safe to humans and pets. We are see increasing interest, but it is difficult to overcome the establishment, who still want to gas someone's home or a building.
The orange oil movement is moving forward very quickly and I am actively trying to lobby government officials to push this alternative and ask themselves "why should we still allow toxic chemicals, when a safe and renewable alternative is readily available and approved by the EPA for use in termite control?"
Any opinions on this subject are welcome and also any words of encouragement or advice will be appreciated.
This is a problem that has a safe alterantive. But, we need a groundswell of public support to help ban the use of toxic alternatives.

Thanks for reading and hopefully you will consider alternative pest control treatments if you are unfortunate enough to have termites!
